Raorao Su

Raorao Su is a doctoral candidate in history from Renmin University of China. Since October 2022, he has been a visiting student at the University of Pittsburgh. His dissertation project is research on the environmental history of water in Xinjiang in Qing dynasty. He is focusing on using multi-source data and methods in his project. He is participating in World Historical Gazetteer Project and creating a historical gazetteer of Xinjiang. Rao specializes in GIS, especially in spatial analysis and cartography, and he is also interested in digital humanities and paleoenvironmental reconstruction. He has study and research experience in many fields, including historical geography, isotope geochemistry, international politics, Qing dynasty history, and digital humanities.
