WHC Continues Epoch of Loss Initiative with Workshop and Podcast

In the 2020-2021 academic year, the WHC continued its collaboration with the Global Studies Center on the Epoch of Loss initiative to explore environmental ethics in the age of the Anthropocene. It offered an asynchronous workshop titled “Mapping Loss in the Anthropocene” in which participants could create an art project or digital map with guidance from local artist Katy Dement and Pitt’s GIS librarian Boris Michev. WHC Director Ruth Mostern, GSC Director Michael Goodhart, and Assistant Curator of Anthropocene Studies at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Nicole Heller, recorded a podcast together about loss and the Anthropocene. This initiative is supported by the Provost’s Year of Creativity funding.
