The World History Center is pleased to host an event for GIS Day 2021 on historical maps and GIS on Tuesday, November 16 from 11am-12pm. This event will introduce attendees to the wealth of information contained in historic maps. We will discuss sources of obtaining digital historic maps, how to read them, and the ways in which they can be digitized and used for research, analysis, and visualization with geographic information system (GIS) maps. The conversation will be led by World History Center Director, Ruth Mostern, WHC Postdoctoral Fellow in Digital World History, Susan Grunewald, and WHC Research Affiliate, Kathy Hart
