Call for Proposals- WHC-Sponsored Working Groups 2021-2022

The World History Center is calling for proposals to establish WHC-sponsored Working Groups for the 2021-2022 academic year. The Center welcomes proposals for Working Groups from scholars who seek to explore a shared theme of interest related to the global past. Each Working Group will receive modest funding for regular meetings, as well as access to Center facilities, official recognition through the Center, and space on the Center website to publicize activities and disseminate any results of their group work and conversations. You can view our current and past working groups here: www.worldhistory.pitt.edu/support/working-groups

Applicants for Working Group support should submit a brief 1-2 page statement that: 1) describes the group’s chosen topic for discussion and explains how it involves global or transregional connections, movements, or processes in the human past, 2) explains how the participants in the Working Group will benefit from Center support in their exploration of this topic, 3) outlines proposed Working Group activities or events, and 4) suggests possible future initiatives that may stem from Working Group support.

Working Groups are open to tenured, tenure-stream, appointment stream and adjunct faculty and graduate students from any department or school. The applicant group must include at least three people, including at least one faculty member and at least one graduate student. We favor interdisciplinary applicant groups. Please submit a 1-2-page description, a list of potential members, and a budget for up to $750 in funding electronically to whc@pitt.edu by Friday, September 24. Please contact the WHC if you have any questions.
